Charity Vuagniaux

DVM, CVA & Co-Owner

Dr. Vuagniaux graduated from the University of Missouri, Columbia, with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Vuagniaux has professional interests in internal medicine, pain management, and dermatology and received training in medical acupuncture for dogs, cats, and small exotics through One Health SIM in April 2015.

Dr. Vuagniaux’s love for animals follows her into her personal life. She and her husband Corey proudly care for a Boxer named Apollo, a Golden Retriever named Chase, a cat named Jasmine, a horse named Ginger, and a miniature donkey named Zip. In her free time, Dr. Vuagniaux enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter Aubrey, playing volleyball, reading, and riding her horse. She is also President of Dynamic Connections (American Business Women’s Association) and a member of the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce.

Jay Schweizer

DVM & Co-Owner

Earning magna cum laude honors, Dr. Schweizer received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1992. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association, and the Association of Avian Veterinarians.

Dr. Schweizer and his wife Ronee have three children, Jacob, Luke, and Timothy. When he’s not at the clinic, he still has animals to look after; Dr. Schweizer and Ronee have a dog named Zeke, a cat named Mr. Whiskers and three fish, Squirt, Blue, and Jaws. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, boating, biking, swimming, and gardening.

Pedro Soto-Elias

DVM

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Dr. Soto-Elias majored in Biology with a minor in biomedicine. He later attended Michigan State University where he completed his doctorate in veterinary medicine with a focus on diversity and enrichment programs. He also completed a small animal rotation internship at the University of Illinois. Dr. Soto-Elias has a special interest in internal medicine and radiology and cannot wait to apply this passion to the care he offers his patients. He moved to Missouri to be with his family, and shares his home with his wife, son, dog (Zip), and three cats (Fred, George and Percy).

Maureen Rettig

Practice Manager

Maureen is a long-time member of the AniMed Animal hospital team and the glue that holds us together! Her love for animals shines through in her hobbies as well. She works with D.O.G. training center and shows her own dogs in agility. Maureen and her husband Dan have five children - Robert, Michael, Mathew, Krista, and Marty - and seven grandchildren who they love spending as much time with as possible. They share their home with eight pets: a Labrador named Gideon, a Bichon Frise named Cassie Mae, a Border Collie named Hotchner, two cats, Cailin and Zeba, an African Gray Parrot named Rhett, and two Macaws, Buttons and Ollie.

Jennifer Stratton

Registered Veterinary Technician

Jennifer is a Registered Veterinary Technician at AniMed Animal Hospital in Blue Springs, MO. A magna cum laude graduate from Brown Mackie College, Jennifer earned her registered veterinary technician degree in 2012. She completed her internship at the Kansas City Zoo, and received clinical training at AniMed Animal Hospital. Jennifer’s passion for animals and biology inspired her to work in the veterinary field. Her area of professional interest is anesthesia.

Jennifer is originally from Lee’s Summit, MO and currently resides there today with her husband, Golden Retriever, Pit bull, and cat. Her golden retriever, Noodles, likes to give himself kisses in the mirror! In her free time she enjoys disc golf, kayaking, yoga, and painting.
